For determination of coefficient of absolute expansion of mercury. Modified form. Consists of columns surrounded by a glass jacket approx. 460mm long 25mm dia closed by rubber bungs and fitted with inlet and outlet tubes for steam and cold water respectively. The lower ends of the tubes are bent horizontally and are connected. The upper open ends of the vertical limbs are bent so as to be placed side by side against a silvered glass scale 0-12cm 1mm figured every 2cm.

The whole apparatus is mounted on a wood stand by means of spring clips. All the glass parts are easily removable. Overall height about 750mm supplied without mercury.
