It is designed for use in the vertical and horizontal planes. The vertical guide bar is made of brass metal. It rotates on ball centres having bearings and can be clamped in any position. The cast iron frame supporting the vertical guide bar is fitted with levelling screws. Range 100cms. The scale is divide into ½mm. Vernier reads to .02 or .01mm. graduated is done on high class dividing engine and graduated accurate.

Sliding Carriage :- Sliding carriage is made of brass metal geometrically constructed and so designed that slipping and lateral play have been avoided. It’s motion is tested for uniformity and straightness. The telescope is mounted on a sub carriage with slides on the main carriage and is moved by a fine pitch screw for final adjustment of the telescope height.

Telescope :- Telescope is fitted with best quality achromatic objective of 175mm focus and of ample light gathering power 10x Ramsden Eye pieces and cross line graticule with rack and pinion focusing range from one metre to infinity. There is no displacement of optical axis during focus. A sensitive sprit level is fitted above the telescope and is levelled by screw.
