The apparatus may be used as a current balance for current up to 3A. Mounted to contact pillars, each with a 4mm hole for connection to an external circuit. A balance bear is supported by the pillars on two conical bearings which form the fulcrum. Two screwed masses are provided on the beam, one moving vertically for the adjustment of sensitivity and one moving horizontally for adjustment of the equilibrium position.
The conducting arm of the beam extends approximately 100mm from the fulcrum and one side carries a rider which moves against a scale marked 0-75 x 1mm.
The straight conductor at the end of the arm is free to move between the pole pieces of a compound magnet comprising five identical horseshoe magnets mounted on a stand free to slide along a securing rod. The stand is easily removable to allow magnets to be removed. Any number of magnets from one to five may be used. A scale conductor in the magnet field to be measured.
